Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis

Functional blood chemistry analysis allows you to obtain a broad medical perspective on the factors that may be affecting your health.

We use this type of analysis to screen our patients for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Various types of Anemia
  • Gut, Viral, and Bacterial Infections
  • Liver and Kidney Issues
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid and Adrenal problems
  • Inflammation
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Various Autoimmune Disorders
  • Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance / Dehydration

Your blood chemistry results allow our doctors to formulate a framework for your treatment based on prioritizing significant conditions and/or tendencies that may exist.

Conventional vs Functional Analysis

Conventional analysis, while considered the gold standard in today’s medical practice, centers solely on the diagnosis of disease. The laboratory ranges used to establish a diagnosis tend to identify pathology related to the disease being tested for.

But few patients realize that every lab service and geographic location has a different set of patients and therefore highs and lows which your doctor basis a diagnosis on. Put simply, lab work is interpreted differently if you are in San Diego, Denver or Miami!

Often conventional analysis is not very useful as an early detection system because it lacks the ability to identify any tendencies that could ultimately lead to disease later on.

Additionally, in an effort to decrease overall patient costs by insurance companies, conventional laboratory tests have become very minimalist in nature and no longer provide the treating physician with a truly comprehensive health picture, leading to the inability to clearly identify the true cause of the dysfunction or disease.

Functional analysis, on the other hand, is preventative in nature and utilizes a different set of laboratory ranges (set forth by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry). The goal is to identify patterns and tendencies within your blood so that pathology never manifests and disease is averted.

Additionally, functional analysis utilizes very comprehensive and detailed laboratory reports to establish the big picture of how well your body is functioning on all levels, allowing our doctors to address any concerns naturally through lifestyle modification, dietary recommendations, and supplement protocols.

Leaky Gut

Let’s discuss leaky gut and then we’ll go over what you need to do testing wise to get this looked at. Think of the individual cells that make up the lining of your intestines as locked together.  It’s like your thumbs locked with your palms out and your fingers up in the air. Your fingers […]

Adrenals often wrong target with chronic stress

When stress levels go too high, the first thing many in the alternative health do is support the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are two walnut-sized glands that sit atop each kidney and secrete stress hormones. Popular supplements include adrenal glandulars (adrenal tissue from animals), minerals, B vitamins, and a variety of herbs — all […]

If you have autoimmunity you need to look at leaky gut

One of the primary things we look for when someone has autoimmunity is leaky gut, a condition in which the intestinal wall is damaged, as it is usually a key factor. Autoimmunity is an extremely common disorder today in which the immune system attacks and destroys part of the body. Common autoimmune disorders include Hashimoto’s […]
